Day 29: Where have you traveled?

I love going to new places, seeing new things, and I also love coming home at the end. I have traveled to some boring and normal places but I have also traveled to some interesting and fun places. Here is a list of  my favorite places that I have been in no particular order:

1. Eleuthera, Bahamas
2. Guatemala (twice)
3. Peru
4. Mexico
5. New York City
6. Charleston, SC
7. Amelia Island

There are wonderful stories and memories to tell from each of these trips, most of which were taken with some of the people I love most in the world. I love to travel for many reasons but my favorite part of it is making memories that will last a lifetime.

Speaking of traveling, God has blessed us tremendously with our trip to the Middle East this summer. We have put our faith in the Almighty that He would provide a way for us to go on such short notice and He has indeed done so. Now what we need are your prayers. Please pray that we will be able to dive in and witness and take part in the work God is doing in the Middle East right now. We will keep you updated!

It's been awhile....

So I officially dropped the ball on the blogger challenge but that is ok! As summer arrives, I should have more things to write about. I am making a promise to myself that I will get back into tip top shape this summer. I have a strict workout plan that will begin on Monday, a diet plan that includes eating a lot more locally grown produce and cutting things like sugar and soda out of my diet completely, and an assortment of recipes that I plan to try and post on here when I find really good ones. I am posting about this because with anything new and different, I need your support, tips, and motivation.

I am not doing this solely to make myself look better, but also to feel better and be healthier. I am reading Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution that my friend Jordyn recommended to me and it really does make you think about the things that you are putting into your body. I have gotten my husband on board with this too and I am really excited about the prospects of living a life free of processed food. We will see how it goes.

I can't give up on the challenge completely since May is not over. So to complete "Day 26: An old photo of you" here is a photo of me and my high school friends right before graduation in 2006.
If you don't know, I am the one on the top of the pyramid on the right side.

Day 19: A collection

I skipped a whole week of the blog challenge because of the craziness going on with our Pre-k celebration today. But now that is over, the year is almost over, and I have a little more time to breathe now. So I will pick up with day 19 of the challenge, which is what you collect.

I have never really been a person to collect coins or anything like that. But over the past year I have developed a new obsession with collecting craft supplies.

Currently our office/craft room is overrun with yarn, buttons, and fabric that I just collect when I find it on sale. For a while I was making wreaths like the one below to sell.

I still make them for my own benefit around my home and for gifts, but the main reason for my collection is now for spur of the moment crafting. I never know when I will find something new on Pinterest that I want to make and I collect these supplies when they are on sale for those times specifically.

Not your typical collection but it is one I find useful and fun!

Update: God has been teaching me great and wonderful things this week through the preparation for our trip. The forefront of these lessons has been how to trust solely in His faithfulness and provision. We are well on our way to being able to buy our plane tickets for our trip sometime this week.

A small change...

So it seems that Paypal is not going to work for this donation process.

If you wish to donate for our trip this summer, please send me and email at kfreeman@tfc.edu or a message on facebook and I will send you my address.

Thank you!

O ye of little faith...

For about a year now, Josh and I have been planning on taking our vision trip to the MIddle East sometime this summer. For those of you that do not know, my husband and I plan to move overseas sometime in the next couple of years to do full time mission work. A vision trip will be used to meet the leaders in the area, get a feel for the culture, and hopefully hear from God about how we should start preparing for our own mission.

So back to it, we had planned to do our trip this summer and we worked together with OM (Operation Mobilization) to find dates that would work well for everyone. After many dates had been discussed and found unavailable, we kind of gave up for this summer and decided to shoot for Spring break of next year.

Well this past week we were overwhelmed when we found out that there is one week in July that is suddenly available for us to visit. God has a great sense of humor and while we are very overwhelmed, we know that this must be God’s plan because we sincerely thought all hope of going this summer was lost.

So, we will be traveling to the Middle East leaving Atlanta on July 15th and returning on the 22nd. While we are there we are going to live and work alongside local workers currently in the field. We will learn how their lives work on a daily basis and help them in any way that is needed.

This is where all of you come in! We need your prayers. The next two months are going to be hectic since the amount of time to prepare is very short. We have things to get ready, planning to do, money to raise, tickets to buy, and prayers to offer up. We need your support in these things. Please remember us in your prayers during this time! If you are able to support financially, we have tried to make it as simple as possible. On the side of the blog there is a button marked “Give” that links you directly to paypal. All donations are tax deductible. If you are unable to help in the financial area, please help us with your prayers and emotional support during this time.

Blog Challenge Day 11 and 12

Day 11: 15 of my favorite things
1. Reading- I love getting so involved in a new book/series that I feel like I can't put it down and I am a little sad when it is over. Just started a new book and I am so excited because I can see that it will be one of those books.
2. Food- Really anything to do with food I like. I like finding new recipes, I like cooking, and most of all I like eating.
3. Coffee- This is a fairly new favorite thing of mine, but up there on the list it is.
4. Popcorn- The only time I really love popcorn is when I am going to the movies or watching a movie at home, but in those moments I can't imagine not having it.
5. Target- It may be because I get 15% off on everything in the store, but they do have cute stuff so the percentage off is just a bonus. Love buying everything at Target.
6. Yard sales- a yard sale really is the best place to find unexpected treasure
7. Jeans
8. Wine
9. Poppy- my wonderful cat
10. A weekend off with my husband
11. Pinterest
12. Kirklands
13. Prek-ers
14. Cheese
15. Sleep

Day 12: What's in my fridge?
Well I am still on vacation in Amelia Island, therefore I cannot take a picture of my fridge! We are about to leave shortly to head back to reality. I can tell you some things I know are in my fridge:
- Salsa (delicious homemade salsa)
- Coffee creamer
- Salad dressings galore
- Milk
- So much lettuce from our first share in our vegetable co-op
- And LOTS of different cheeses!

Blog Challenge Day 9 and 10

So I got caught up and then fell behind again. That's just how it goes in the Turner house!

Day 9: My Worst Habits
*I am really great at laundry until it comes to taking all the clothes from the laundry room to the bedroom (and did I mention they are right next to each other). I just end up leaving the clothes in there for a few days and going in the laundry room when I need something.

*I am a piler when it comes to paperwork like bills and some school work. I eventually get to the stack and work through it, filing what I need, trashing some things, but not before the pile gets big enough that it starts to annoy me. To help, I often hide the pile of paperwork on top of the file box in the closet. (Hey don't judge me! At least the rest of my house is clean!)

*I am one of the most forgetful people I know. Unless I make a note on a list, write it on my hand, etc. I will not remember the first time and maybe not the second. But much like the blog, the third time is most likely a charm.

Day 10: My Best Physical Feature
If I had to make a decision I guess I would say that my best physical feature are my eyes. They are a good size, a good color blue, they really stand out in pictures, and they really pop when I wear certain colors. Oh, and my husband tells me I make a great buggy eye face (still don't know how I feel about that one).

So my post tomorrow will be from the beach, hopefully with my toes in the water!
